4/2-11/2/16

Hola!
Sé que tienen algunas preguntas;
Las respuestas son;
¡No, te quiero mucho!
Me hubiera gustado poder verlo.

Hello!
Now I know that you’ve probably got a few questions;
“Why wasn’t there a Spanish Club blog update last week?”
“Do you not care about us anymore?”
“Did you watch the Grammy’s last night?”
“I was actually looking for a different blog. Can you give me the link to the one with the Spiderman x Deadpool fanfiction?”
The answers to those are;
I had a hectic week filled with Psychology and Statistics tests.
No, of course I care about you! You’re great!
No, but I heard Lady Gaga paid an awesome tribute to David Bowie. Wish I could’ve watched it live. Bummer.
No, that’s just weird (but try checking tumblr and searching their names.)
But anyways, I owe you two weeks worth of updates!
Two weeks ago, the Spanish Club learned all about curse words! Yes, you read that right. We spent a full hour discussing what and what not to call your best friend while studying abroad in Spain. (I’d give the exact words, but I also don’t want this blog to be flagged for inappropriate content, and I think I’m already pushing it with the whole fanfiction thing.)
So moving right along to last week, one of the lovely choreographers from Arcadia’s Latin dance group, Puro Ritmo, stopped by to give the club a few dance lessons. The whole club learned the basics of Bachata and Salsa, and even got to try out some partner work! I quickly found that, despite some previous dance experience, Salsa and Bachata are quite different from Ballet and Jazz, but I had a lot of fun learning! (Just gotta work on the sassy hip movements.)
In addition to working on our dancing skills, we finally decided on an official club t-shirt design! Pretty exciting news. You too can be involved in these important club decisions by stopping by every Thursday in Easton 143 at 6:30pm! Bring your friends! Who knows? You just might learn how to swear like a Spaniard or become a master of Salsa.

2/2/16

A mí, me gusta
¿Nieva? Un sombrero tejido de “Doctor Who”. ¿Llueve?

Hello again!
I hope everyone has had a good week and has managed to adapt to the ever changing weather we’ve been having! For myself, I like to keep a collection of assorted hats for every sudden change of the elements. Snow? Knitted Doctor Who tassel hat. Rain? Wide-brimmed black hat that makes me feel like a member of “The Hateful Eight”. Trust me, hats are essential to surviving PA’s unpredictable weather patterns.
This week, the members of the Spanish Club tried their hand at grammar and divided into two teams to play a friendly round of “¿por o para?” The members were prompted with sentences and were then asked to complete them with the correct word. We are a friendly club, so if you’re wondering who won, it’s not important. All that matters is that everyone had a good time and got to practice some grammar. (But I was on the team that won.) Overall though, it was a fun way to go over one of the trickier parts of Spanish grammar, and I know that I personally always benefit from a bit of review.
After the game, the club brainstormed ideas for a club t-shirt. (Speaking of which, although we have many creative and humorous individuals in the Spanish Club, we always welcome new members and new ideas. So if you think you have a great idea for a club t-shirt design, please, don’t be shy!)
The club meeting concluded with some funny YouTube videos and well wishes for the next week. Just like in last week’s post, I strongly urge anyone who has even the slightest interest in improving their Spanish skills or just wants to hang out with a fun group of people for an hour to join! You know where to find us: Thursday, 6:30pm, Easton 143.
